The mobile industry has changed once again with Google acquiring Motorola Mobility. The market is now very much a game of Android vs. iPhone. While both Android and iPhone users love technology, there are generally some differences among people who are a part of these groups. Hunch.com has put together an infographic that demonstrates the major differences between Android device owners and iPhone fans:

According to Hunch, iPhone owners are 18% more likely to be women and 27% more likely to live in a city. Hunch’s study suggests that the iPhone crowd are a tad bit older and more sophisticated (many of them with a graduate degree). In addition, Android users are 80% more likely to have only a high school diploma.

From our own surveys, it does seem that conservatives better identify with Android with iPhone. As this model suggests, Android users are 20% more likely to be conservatives. Not surprisingly, those who make a better living are more likely to own an iPhone rather than an Android device.

Here is a short summary of how iPhone fans compare against Android users:

political views: liberal (iPhone) / conservative

degree: graduate degree / diploma (Android)

annual income: $200 or more / $50-100k

attitude: optimists / pessimists

personality: extroverts / introverts

spending habits: spenders/ savers

adoption: early adopters / late adopters

travel habits: worldwide / native country

There are many more interesting nuggets in this study. Hunch.com has gathered this data from 15818 users that have participated in the study. These characterizations are based on probability. Not every Android or iPhone owner fits in this model. But this is an interesting study regardless.

Do you agree with Hunch’s study?

With Google I/O 2011 just two days behind us, we wanted to thank the nearly 1 million developers who joined us at Moscone Center, attended I/O Extended events and watched online via I/O Live from 161 countries around the world.

The keynote presentations highlighted the momentum and vision for two of our most important developer platforms: Android and Chrome.

On the topic of Android, Hugo Barra, director of Android Product Management, opened Day 1 of the conference with the themes of “Momentum, Mobile and More,” announcing Movies in Android Market, Music Beta by Google, Android @ Home, Android Open Accessory and a preview of the new Ice Cream Sandwich logo. Read the blog post summary or watch the keynote in its entirety below.

The Day 2 keynote was all about Chrome, which has grown to 160 million active users, up from 70 million last year. Sundar Pichai, senior vice president of Chrome, discussed the launch of the HTML5 version of Angry Birds built with GWT on App Engine, Chromebooks for consumers and businesses and in-app payments. If you missed it, watch the Chrome keynote below.

These launches are just a few of the more than 30 announcements we made over the two days, including the launch of Google App Engine 1.5, a updated Google Prediction API, new additions to the Fusion Tables API and many more. For more information about these and the other news coming out of the event, visit the Google I/O label on the Google Code Blog.

Additionally, in case you missed any of these announcements, HD recordings of the sessions are now available online.

Find the highlights from this year’s event at www.google.com/io, where we’ll feature photos, announcements and the latest videos. Also stay tuned for a feature on “Backstage at Google I/O” where we’ll highlight the developers and artists who helped to make the event possible this year.

Google I/O kicked off the year as our biggest developer event—but we’re only getting started. As of today, we’re announcing locations for our eight Google Developer Days (GDDs), which will take place all over the world with more than a few DevFests in between. Stay tuned for more info on the 2011 event details, but we’ll look forward to seeing you in Brazil, Argentina, Prague, Moscow, Tokyo, Sydney, Israel and Germany for our Google Developer team world tour.

Well, we have one more to show you this year, created entirely with Google Docs, demonstrating the power of nothing but the web -- and it just might be our favorite yet.

Google introduced Demo Slam in October 2010 as a way to turn traditionally boring tech demonstrations into out-of-this-world displays of technology. A couple of weeks ago, three animators worked together for three days in three different cities to create a Google Docs demo slam using Google presentations and drawings. Take a look:

As customers begin to recognize large productivity gains with Gmail, Google Docs and the rest of Google Apps, they frequently ask when they’ll be able to use services like Google Voice, Reader, Blogger and AdWords with their Google Apps accounts. We’ve steadily added new functionality to Google Apps and recently added support for third-party apps, but we’re thrilled to swing the floodgates of new functionality wide open now. Starting today, customers worldwide can access a full spectrum of services from Google—including more than 60 productivity-boosting applications that extend far beyond any traditional software suite.

Coupled with the ability for administrators to provide different sets of applications to different groups of users, the possibilities for empowering workers in new ways are remarkable. For example, you could equip your marketing team with Picasa Web Albums so they can collect and share photos from customer appreciation events, and let that team publish your company’s blog with Blogger. Services like iGoogle and Alerts, on the other hand, may be broadly useful, and could be enabled for your whole organization.

Deutlich erhöhte Produktivität, 300% Return on Investment und sieben Monate bis Break-Even.
